Personal Learning Goals.

"Just turn it off and turn back again" is what I usually say to myself and to people when a machine is not responding. I have to say I am not a tech person at all. Technology is a very important part of school curriculum these days. I remember I took a typing class in high school and learned a basic typing as a main curriculum of the class. Probably that was the only class that was involved a computer as a part of a class. However, technology is used in most of classes in schools now days. Even after class hours, assignments are given using a websites and some teachers require assignments post on a websites, blogs and etc. Technology an important part of being a 21st century teachers. As a future teacher, I need to acquire as many information I can to use in class and being an effective 21st century teacher.

Personal Learning Goals
  1. Learn how to use social media and social networking (using the web for interactive communication) to connect with students and parents to figure out how to assist each individual students better.
  2. Learn to use problem-solving/inquiry-learning technologies for different topics and curriculums for students with different needs. Create different levels of excises for students with various learning levels.
  3. Learn how to use assessment technologies (student participation, student response systems) to promote student self-evaluation of their learning.
  4. Learn how to use Internet technologies such as webquest, interactive educational websites, and webcasts to teach students how to access and assess online information.
  5. Learn how different technologies in general could help students and teachers, and to teach effectively and get most out of students' learning abilities using different technologies.

  1. I like your mentality of just rebooting a device that ceases to work correctly. That is usually the last thing I do, as I struggle and struggle to get the device to work, to no avail. I also had a typing class in high school, as well as in elementary school, and I can credit my current typing abilities to those classes; I am eternally glad that I had to take the classes because of all the typing assignments I had to do since then. Typing with two fingers would not meet the standard of typing necessary for a student in the 21st century, where turing in typed-up assignments and communicating with others for educational purposes is the norm.

To become an effective 21st century teacher, I totally agree with your personal learning goals. We must stay connected with students, parents, and even co-workers through social media and networking. Moreover, learning how to incorporate assessment technologies would definitely be advantageous in a class where student participation and student responses are a major aspect of the class. Technology can call out to the students of today's society, motivate them, and make learning more meaningful. Furthermore, technology can help us meet the different needs for our diverse learners, such as our students with disabilities, or our students who need to learn through more visuals.

  2. Hi JeYoun,

Great goals! Of what you wrote, I really appreciate your comment that "Learn how different technologies in general could help students and teachers" A lot of people forget that teachers need help too, and that we don't have all the answers! I really like that you want to learn and help the teacher community just as much as the student community!
